Suchitra Sen’s bio info and contribution

Suchitra sen (সুচিত্রা সেন, Bangla spelling) was born in Bangladesh. She was an Indian film actress and played role in bangla and Hindi movies. Her birth name is Roma Dasgupta, she was born at current Sirajgonj city of Bangladesh in 6 April 1931. She breathed her last in 17 Janury 2014.

Suchitra mainly played role against Uttam Kumar and those movies became popular in the history of Bangla film. She is the first actress who had recieved an Award in an international film festival held at Moscow International Film Festival in 1963. She won the Silver Prize of Best Actress for her nice roleplay in “Saat Paake Bandha”.

She was also awarded the Padma Shri, a top awards in India. She stop all of her public contracts in 1979 and also refused Dadasaheb Phalke Award to keep her away from public. She got the West Bengal Government’s highest honor- “Banga Bibhushan”.

Her father’s name Late Karunamoy Dasgupta and he was a school teacher. Her mother’s name Late Indira Devi and she was a homemaker. She was educated in Pabna and later they moved in West Bengal. She was maried with Dibanath Sen who was a son of wealthy industrialist Adinath Sen in 1947. Both her father-in-law and spouse supported her acting career in cinema. She initiates her carrier in Bangla film in 1952.

Shesh Kothay was Suchitra Sen’s first movie but was never released. Saat Number Kayedi was her first officially released movie. She has many trending movies. Some of those are-
